Fall Friend Gathering 2012

My Fall Friend Gathering post is finally complete!

You probably heard me mention it here !  This past weekend we welcomed four couples into our home that we call dear friends.  We are thankful to have them in our lives and we can't wait to gather once again with them!

I wanted to be sure to mention that my sister, Elizabeth was the official photographer for the evening!  That is why there are some shots of me! She took her job seriously, and she wasn't even being paid!  :) Thanks sis!

We had an Appetizer and Dessert Tasting!  I really enjoyed trying the new recipes and making these tiny dishes of love for our friends!

Let's take a tour of the evening shall we!

First up the Decor!
I love the Fall colors in this flower spray!

Alittle ambiance lighting!

Each guest received alittle brown bag to take home! It included two
homemade muffins and a serving of breakfast casserole!

Let's step into the kitchen for some food preparation!
Milton does wonders with a knife and cutting board!  I am lucky he
loves to cook!

Desserts - Yummy!

We are for hire! :) HaHa!

We had a couple helpers that came early! That's Elizabeth & Ray!

And there was food!
Assortment of cheeses, grapes, and crackers!

Appetizers!

Desserts!

The Spread!

Misc!
I just thought this was a neat photo my sister took of the glasses!

My friend Lisa brought these very cool glasses she decorated with Vampire Blood! :)

This evening included us lingering around the kitchen visiting, enjoying food around our dining room table, and finishing our time together around a beautiful fire on a calm night on the patio!

The best part of the entire evening was spending it with all of these great people!

Appetizers:
Caprese Puffs
Mushrooms stuff with Brie
Barbeque Meatballs

Desserts:
Lemon Yogurt Parfait
Pumpkin Trifle
Peanut Butter Trifle
(Recipes will be provided in a seperate blog soon!)

Thank you for stopping by and thanks to all our friends that came that evening!

  1. I love that you go all out for a night with your friends! What a beautiful table, and the desserts look delicious!
Two questions, What was the vampire blood, and what did you offer your guests to drink? i.e. the red liquid in the vampire blood glass.

    1. Heather, Thank you for your compliments and for stopping by. I usually serve a few types of wine and water at our gatherings. I also offer to my guests to bring any drinks they would prefer.

Lisa, my talented friend, made the glasses with "vampire blood" and the red drink mixture. The recipe for the "vampire blood" is below. The red drink mixture is a cocktail (adult beverage), which I am sure one could find some sort of red drink mixture that was kid friendly!

The recipe for both are below.

      Vampire Blood
      Ingredients:
      1 c. Sugar
      1/2 c. Karo Syrup
      1/2 c. Water
      Red Food Coloring
      Directions:
Combine sugar, syrup and water. Cook without stirring to hard crack stage – which is 300 degrees F. Add food coloring.
Turn off heat. While the mixture is still hot, dunk the top of the cocktail glass into the mixture to create the red rim. If you need to do a lot of glasses, keep the mixture hot so it lasts longer (instead of turning heat off, just reduce slightly). Dip along the very tip of the rim or part way down– whichever you prefer. Flip the glass right side up to cool. The thick consistency of the mixture will cause “drips” as it hardens on the glass.

      Red Cocktail
      • 6 ounces spiced rum
      • 6 ounces light cranberry juice
      • 6 ounces pineapple juice
      • 3 ounces grenadine
      • black grapes
      Directions
1.In a cocktail shaker with ice combine the rum, cranberry juice, pineapple juice and grenadine.
      2.Shake for 30 seconds
3.Fill goblets with ice and strain the cocktail into the glass.
4.For a deeper red color, you can add an extra splash of grenadine.

      Thanks again!
      Julie
