Solitude With a Splash of Worry!

(written 9/11/12)

As I stepped out into the semi darkness this morning, it was so very quiet.  The only thing I  could hear were the crickets.  It was so completely still here at the farm.  I thought to myself, I wish my mind could be like that.  I wish I had an "app" to shut down the worries and the ongoing "running tab" through my mind.  This running tab,  usually kicks in when it is time for me to go to bed.

(Can any of you relate? I am guessing so.)

This stillness encompassed me, inviting me in.  The Solitude of it all was inviting and although alittle chilly on this September morning, I felt warmth throughout my body.

The sunrise is just at the very early stages of peaking above the trees and a slight breeze was welcoming.   The worries and running tab slipped away and the essence of solitude was here.

In this place.

My home.

My body.

My soul.

Clearing the cobwebs of life from my mind, even if only for a few minutes it was pure delight.

(I like to call this a "HIM" moment by the way)

I wish I could bottle this and open it each time I begin to feel anxiety and worry.  It's interesting to me that this "solitude" was given to me today.

(I love how GOD does that, drops a little piece of just what you need right in your lap in struggling times!)

The reason I find it interesting is, last evening I attended a bible study, with some very lovely ladies I might add, and one of the main topics of the study was worry. Some said they did not realize worry was a sin and I have to admit I didn't either.  In a sense, I guess I thought worry was something the LORD didn't care for, but I never fully wrapped my head around that worry was a sin.

(Yes, I know there are not degrees or levels of sin, ONLY SIN, but I am a work in progress please remember! :)

So, of course, by attending the bible study, it gave me food for thought.  Thank goodness it offered some bible verses to aide me in any future running tabs and worry moments of life I might have!

I knew a few of them, but I welcome the others as I can use all the help I can get in that area of my life.  Take a look with me won't you! Feel free to share others with me that you might know in the comments area!

Psalm 139:23-24
New Living Translation (NLT)
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
24 Point out anything in me that offends you,
and lead me along the path of everlasting life.

Matthew 6:25-34
New Living Translation (NLT)
25 “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? 27 Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?28 “And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, 29 yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. 30 And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?31 “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ 32 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. 33 Seek the Kingdom of God[a] above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.34 “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today

Philippians 4: 6-7
New Living Translation (NLT)
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

I think I just found my "bottle of solitude"!  :)

I plan to start a new habit, and perhaps you would like to as well.  I am going to place these lovely verses in my eyesight, in my purse, on my computer, on my smartphone, and you never know, you might see one taped to my hand for me to easily turn over and read!
If you come across me in this particular act, don't laugh at me, just act like its a new fashion accessory please!  :) I would greatly appreciate it!

Now remember, they say it takes 90 days for a new habit to become common to a person! So please check back with me in 90 days! Hold me accountable people! I'm counting on you!

In fact, why don't you JOIN me! I love company...remember my blog description! HAHA!

On a more serious note, once again, the moments in life bring much to be thankful for.  I am thankful for the opportunity to learn, listen, and be guided by the other women of the church I attend.  The LORD brought forth some much needed fellowship in my life last night, thank you ladies and the leader for giving me the chance to feel welcomed and for the insight given.

I also thank HIM for the opportunity to share our life, here with you, and grow my catalog of friends!

Remember to check out a sunset!

  1. I must admit your title piqued my interest. I was all ready to come over there and shake my fist at you. (Said the pot to the kettle.) I LOVE the idea of the, "new fashion accessory!"
This is one area that I am terrible in. My kids do it for Sunday school and for day school, but me? No time...Excuses, excuses. I have a hundred of them. 90 days...Are you going to post the verses you're learning?
